What's new, wrestling fans?
Time to break down another Match of the Year Tournament month!
The A Block is finished with February coming to a close, with a few great matches standing out as the best of the best this month. Let's dig into those matches real quick and find out which really stood out.
The Pre-Quarterfinalists
A busy month for yours truly, both in the personal and wrestling side of the equation, I got dangerously close to watching 300 matches this year by the time February came to a close. I had little to complain about, but I still found myself cursing whoever had the idea to watch so much wrestling in such a short amount of time (me, I was cursing me).
The middle of February was its strongest, with the three matches of the month all happening within 7 days of each other!
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Kyle Fletcher - 02/11/2026
It should come as no surprise to anyone that Ciampa and Fletcher, two of my favourite wrestlers on the planet, had one of my favourite matches this month. Hard hitting and exciting from bell to bell, neither man let up for a moment and gave us so many exciting near falls, you could have genuinely believed that this match would end at any given second. I'm sad that Ciampa lost this match (spoiler) but it gave way to Fletcher getting his custom pink TNT Championship, so I'm not gonna complain too much.
Titan vs. Mascara Dorada - 02/13/2026
A Weekly Watchlist 089 feature, Titan and Dorada had a match that was, in many ways, better than the much more talked about main event match between Templario and Mistico. Working at a blisteringly quick pace, it was all action from the word go between these two, neither man giving the other a small chance to breathe. You can read my full thoughts on this one in my Weekly Watchlist feature, but safe to say, this match blew me away.
Kenny Omega vs. Swerve Strickland - 02/18/2026
A shocking match to be giving away on free TV with only a week of build, Swerve and Omega delivered a PPV quality match in short order, with the now newly minted heel Swerve going to absolute town on Omega in this match, beating seven bells out of him in a hellacious war. Now, that's not to say that this was a squash, far from it! Omega held his own very well and managed to hold back the approaching tide of Swerve for a good while, but in the end, Swerve picked up the win. Dismantling Omega after the bell, Swerve gave some new life to the heel side of the AEW ledger and reminded everyone that he is just as good as he says he is, and maybe just a wee bit better.
So, who won out this month?!
The Quarterfinalists
You guys should have seen this one coming, honestly. Fletcher and Ciampa had an exceptional match that will stand out as one of the best of Ciampa's career as well as Fletcher's. Two careers already filled with exceptional matches, this one added another piece to the ever growing puzzle.
But did it pass on to the semifinals?!

You guys should have seen this one coming too! I only talked incredibly glowingly about this match like, 3 times now! It was exceptional! Like seriously, if you haven't watched it yet, go watch it, because it's a bona-fide Match of the Year contender.
Well, that does it for this month! Next month will be the start of the B Block, with a whole new batch of Quarterfinalists to decide!
Until next month, take it easy friends!
