Here's what I watched for the week;
5 Star Booker
Last week, one of my BlueSky mutuals @andy.wrestlejoy.com, who oversees the website WrestleJoy.com, recently released a browser game called 5 Star Booker. I've been having a whole lot of fun with this game booking the most bonkers, crazy cards possible. It's been getting a lot of love and updates over the past week, making it rather robust and challenging when you are trying to make the best card, even when playing Stats mode.
Hey, maybe I should go over the rules of the game real quick so you know if you want to check it out or not.
The game spins a wrestling roster (stuff like AEW, CMLL, Stardom, ROH, TNA, WWF/E and a bunch of others) and a year for you to pick from 10 times. Your goal is to book a 5 match card and receive the highest Meltzer ratings possible. I've seen star ratings go all the way to 7 stars before. There are 3 game modes to pick from. Stats, which shows the rankings of each wrestler, Smark, which hides the rankings, meaning you really need to know who was on top in every promotion over any given year, and Custom, where you pick the promotion and the year yourself.
I've been booking a lot of looney cards over the past week and having fun with the daily Smark challenge. Here's the latest Stats card I booked while writing this piece today;

Measuring each other. EVE
Bell To Bell
Main eventing Pro Wrestling: EVE's 150th event, the EVE International title, currently held by Kris Statlander on her 336th day as champion, Miyu Yamashita seeks to take the gold for the first time. Offering a handshake in the middle, Kris' challenger meets her in the middle, mutual respect being shown right from the bell.
They lock up not long after, with Kris forcing Miyu into the ropes and the referee demanding a break. There's an air of confidence with both women, Kris confident she can retain, and Yamashita confident she can unseat the champion. Kris is able to counter Miyu's hammerlock and take her to the canvas, but Yamashita scissors Stat's head and pulls her off, with Kris countering into a headstand to slip free, shooting right into a side headlock. Soon, they're vertical again, snatching waistlocks on one another to try and get a leverage advantage. They each grab wristlocks but they aren't locks for very long, with Krist cartwheeling out and Miyu rolling through the clutch to counter the grip.
The opening minutes are tight and closely fought, with neither woman really finding any concrete advantage. Even when Miyu tries to shoot Kris off the ropes and force her to either trip or jump over her prone body (y'know, the dropdown/leapfrog spot), Kris instead drops off the rebound and gator rolls through, keeping a tight grip on Miyu on the canvas. Yamashita tries to roll and twist her way out, but Kris stays on top. maintaining the facelock the entire time. Miyu is the first to deliver any strike, landing short forearms to the gut of Kris to create distance. She shoots her into the corner but Kris pops up and over Miyu, nearly getting sniped with a kick when landing near the centre, able to duck the foot, but only barely.

Close! But no cigar! EVE
Pulling Miyu down with an arm drag, she rolls through the hold and nearly takes Kris' head off not once, but twice, with Stat gesturing for her to grant space, standing up to meet Miyu on her feet. Yamashita charges Kris, with the champion backing up a half step and grabbing the top rope, shooting a boot up to block Miyu's advances. Her foot gets caught, with Yamashia landing a stiff kick into the ass of Stat. She wastes no time from there, snapmaring Stat down to the canvas before landing a stiff boot into her back. There's a reason Yamashita is known as the Pink Striker, she has deadly feet and the smarts to know how to use them.
Pulling the champion back to a seated position after she rolls and writhes around in pain, Yamashita lands another kick square in the back, locking in a sleeper hold when Stat seats herself again before trying to stand. She's able to get to a vertical position, despite having a Miyu-shaped monkey on her back, fighting her off only to get tossed into the corner for her troubles. Miyu tries to seize on Stat in the corner, but Kris shifts to the side, leaving her to land in an empty pool. A back elbow, a European uppercut, and a running knee all land flush on her challenger, with Stat pulling her out for a vertical suplex. She gets her up and holds her for a solid 18 count before drilling her into the canvas.

Lying in wait. EVE
Yamashita rolls to the apron for distance and air, with Stat hopping the corner to join her; big mistake. Without a second thought, Miyu shoots out a kick that catches Stat upside the head, dropping her to the apron, who then rolls to the floor. Lining her up on the apron, Miyu stands at the ready, watching as a groggy Kris rises to her feet, slowly turning to face her opposition. The second she does, a kick is drilled into her chest, sending her crashing back to the harsh floor.
Tossing Kris back inside the ring, she rolls to the neighbouring apron, near the corner, to try and grant herself more time to recover. Miyu, however, does not grant her that chance. She climbs the corner and pulls Kris up by her hair, with both women striking back and forth over the corner. Kris is able to get the better of the exchange, pulling Miyu onto her shoulder and dragging her further out onto the apron. Dropping her chest first, Kris lands on the floor the same time Miyu lands front first on the solid apron. Either mockingly or to say "I've got lots left in the tank," Kris marches around the ring and does a few Hindu squats, just to keep the blood flowing, y'know?
Rolling Miyu in the ring, she tries for a cover, but Yamashita escapes quite easily at two, with Kris sinching in a modified crossface off the cover. Miyu wastes no time countering the hold, sinking her teeth into the back of Kris' hand to break her grip. Stat drives a knee into the back of Miyu to punctuate her disapproval, pulling her up and bodyslamming her before another cover, but only scores two. She tries to pull Miyu by her legs, but the Pink Striker lands kicks to the torso of Kris only serving to piss her off, really. Stat drives a boot in the gut of Miyu to stop the onslaught, going back to the legs again, slingshotting her up and into the top turnbuckle.

Why not? EVE
She leans on Miyu in the corner, laying her shin across the back of her neck, with the ref forcing a break before the 5 count. Kris obliges, with Miyu falling to the canvas. Standing on the middle rope, Kris takes advantage of the situation, landing a Vader bomb on Miyu for another cover attempt, but she's still able to get free at two. A strong chinlock pulls Miyu down, but she's able to rolls around and get back to her feet, fending off Stat with heavy forearm shots. The pair exchange whip reversals, with Miyu able to get the better of the exchange and drill Kris in the gut with a knee strike. Charging across the ring, she rebounds off the ropes and comes back with a vicious lariat, taking Kris clean off her feet.
With Stat using the ropes to pull herself up, Miyu lands heavy kicks into the small of the back. Over and over again, she focuses in on the back of the champion, drilling her with heavy kicks. A rope rebound into a shining wizard to the back of Kris' head has her all but totally out on her feet, with Miyu dismissively kicking her back to the canvas for a cover. She's down for one, but gets out at two, with Miyu locked onto Kris like a heat seeking missile. Using her own arm against her, Miyu holds her in a chinlock, but Kris uses the crooked, trapped elbow to drill Miyu in the head and create distance. It doesn't work, however, as Miyu instead drills Kris in the face with a series of knee strikes, pulling her down to the canvas with a hip toss, scraping and dismissively patting her head with her foot.
Fighting to her knees first, Kris delivers forearm shots to Miyu to soften her grip and daze her, quickly scooping up her legs before delivering a backbreaker to break the hold. With Miyu backed into a corner, Kris charges in quickly, but gets caught with a boot to stagger her back. Not out of it just yet, she rushes back in, but Yamashita shifts out of the corner and leaves Kris to land chest first on the padding. She lands a kick that staggers Kris to the middle of the ropes and rebounds off the corner to try and land a triangle kick, but Kris still has her wits about her enough to shift out of the way of the shot, landing a boot on Yamashita of her own.
Miyu gets snatched and nearly taken up for a back suplex, but she fights out of the hold and fires off a kick on Stat, only to have her leg caught, with the champ turning it into a reverse bodyslam. She rebounds off the ropes for a lariat but Miyu ducks, this time able to land her triangle kick to Stat, nailing her upside the head. Both women are down now, sucking back air and plotting their next moves. Miyu is quick to act, snatching the right arm of Stat and using it to measure distance for a kick to the chest, dropping Stat heavy. Getting the knuckle lock again, Stat is able to nip up and catch Miyu with a boot upside the jaw, a version of Eat Defeat! Miyu is staggered, but eats the kick and drills Stat in the back as she begins to rise.

The shot lands flush. EVE
Stat catches one kick as she stands up straight, but a back kick and a thrust kick to the chest send her into the corner, only for Stat to fire out with a lariat. Acting quickly, a fishermans buster is landed on Miyu for a close, tight two count. Climbing the top rope now, Kris finds herself on the top rope, with Miyu marching over to Stat, delivering a heavy kick to the head of Kris like a fucking sniper. Climbing to meet Stat, they exchange shots on the top, with Kris getting the better of the exchange and driving Miyu to the canvas. Flying off the top, she crushed her with a 630 splash, holding her down for a close 2 count.
Arguing with the referee, certain that was enough for the final three, Kris punches herself in the jaw before returning to Miyu, pulling her up to deliver Staturday Night Fever, but Miyu slips free, rolling Kris into the ropes and landing a heavy knee strike to the back of her head. With Stat trapped on the ropes, Yamashita lands a kick to the back of the head, using the disorientating strike to snatch a waistlock and take Kris over with a German suplex! Kris, however, absorbs the impact and charges over for Miyu, herself leaning in the corner for air. Kris charges in, snatching a waistlock and rolling back for a tight pin. Instead of letting Miyu kick out, Kris continues her momentum, turning it into Chaos Theory! Miyu, however, absorbs that impact, charging after getting back to her feet and landing a knee strike to the back of Kris' head!

Rock 'em, sock 'em. EVE
With both women down, they're slow to recover and find their footing again. On hands and knees they lock horns, with Kris the first to strike once vertical again. Back and forth they exchange, each forearm shot heavier than the last. One even drops Miyu to her knees, but she's back on her feet and striking Kris in seconds. A kick from Yamashita knocks Kris loopy for a moment, with a second nearly landing flush, but it's blocked as Kris turns around for a heavy lariat, knocking Miyu down hard. Pulling Miyu up for a package piledriver, she holds her down for a cover, but Miyu survives!
More determined than ever, Stat climbs to her feet and cracks Miyu with a kick, pulling her up for Staturday Night Fever again, but Miyu again rolls through! She nearly holds Kris down for three, but she gets free at two, rolling back out of the cover. Turning for, what I can only assume is a discus lariat, Kris goes 180 at the same time as Miyu, who manages to land a heavy kick to the head of Stat, dropping her like a shot. Covering, Miyu scores three. We have a new EVE International Champion!

Match Time: 17:30
This match was really well fought, I felt. Both ladies put in a solid effort to make it seem like there was a legitimate struggle happening and that this could go either way at any given minute. Stat looked strong and held her own on more than one occasion, but Miyu kept coming back harder and harder, eventually catching her with the killing blow. I liked how sudden and quick the finish was, catching me off guard when I first watched this match. Really great work from both women.
