Match of the Year Tournament - Rules & Regulations

Welcome, one and all, to Cliff Morgan's Wrestling Vault Match of the Year Tournament! (Officially referred to as the Match of the Year Tournament)

At the recommendation of a dear friend, I have started a tournament to determine the very best matches I watched this year! I'm very particular about how I keep track of what I watch and about the matches I enjoy the most from month to month, so it seems only natural that I'd want to know what the very best match from the year was, right?

I've gone ahead and split the year up into Blocks. They are as follows;

A Block - January and February

B Block - March and April

C Block - May and June

D Block - July and August

E Block - September and October

F Block - November and December

The year is also cut in half, with A,B, and C Blocks going head-to-head to determine who will move onto the semifinals. I've included some majorly zoomed out screenshots of my tournament bracket so you guys can get a better understanding of what I mean.

Each Match of the Year post will go over which matches qualified for the pre-quarterfinals, as well as the quarterfinals. Things will progress from there until I announce which matches make it to the semifinals, and then the finals.

The winner of the Match of the Year Tournament will be announced in the new year, when all the tallies have been counted and the scores have been totalled.

I'm sure that was a lot to digest and, I'll be honest, I'm still wrapping my head around the concept, but once we get the ball rolling, the kinks will smooth themselves out. I'm sure of it.

So, tune in next Monday, as these posts will be going live the second Monday of each month, to find out which matches made it into the June pre-quarterfinals, and quarterfinals. From there, I'll be progressing and eliminating matches until we figure out the Match of the Half-Year winner!

Until then, take it easy, and go for a walk. I know I'm not always the best at explaining things so if you smell smoke, it's not the toaster. It's your brain after reading all of this.

Be well friends,

Cliff Morgan.
