Weekly Watchlist 068 - September 28 2025

What's the story, boosters of bogus beatdowns?!

We're officially out of wedding season but still not in the clear. Been sick since right after the "I do's" along with a whole host of other issues around the house. I've been itching to dig around and watch some old wrestling from across the globe recently but man, it's been difficult to even keep up with AEW every week, and that's the only current stuff I watch anymore! Roulette week should be the kick in the pants I need and will get things back on track, brother.

But, until then, all I've got for you lovely readers is another lovely TV match from Dynamite! So it's not all bad! Trust me!

Kyle Fletcher vs. Orange Cassidy - AEW Dynamite - 6 Year Anniversary - 10/01/2025

Whatever. AEW

Cassidy's return was all but confirmed at All Out in Toronto when his Conglomeration homies gave a literal thumbs up tease. Couldn't have been more on the nose if they tried. He rocked up in a 6 man match on the following episode of Dynamite and his first singles match since returning has him facing off against the dominant stud of a TNT Champion, Kyle Fletcher. I know I just reviewed a match of his in my last post and I try to avoid double dipping like this, but I'm a huge Orange fan, hell, my entire house is! My wife loves him and we all but named one of our cats after him! Our orange girl Peach Cassidy has all the fire in her that this insectoid possesses and more. So I felt obligated to give OC some more time in the sun here. I've missed our boy.

In typical OC fashion, the start of the match is pretty... whatever. He's disinterested from the word go, leaning on the ropes and barely giving Fletcher the time of day. Eventually, on his own schedule, he decides it's go time. Slapping his chest and readying his hands for his pockets, slowly rising them before dramatically put- no! Not so fast! Fletcher charges in for a cheap show while Cassidy is busy, but Orange spots him and ducks the show, snatching a side headlock to start the offence off. Fletcher changes his stance and gets a side headlock of his own applied, but OC slips free and tries for a quick rollup (brother what?), but Fletch escapes.

Rebounding off the ropes, Orange goes for a crucifix pin but Fletch stands strong, leaving Orange out to dry on his back, trying to use whatever momentum he can to pull the champion off his feet. He slips around with a very slow sunset flip, landing flat out below Fletcher as he tries to pull at his legs, but the champion refuses to budge. Grabbing a front facelock, he rips OC off the canvas and tries for a suplex, but Orange holds fast and tries for one of his own to no avail. Ducking and catching a lariat, Cassidy slips behind and tries for a backslide, but Fletcher stays sturdy, every one of Cassidy's quick pin attempts being thwarted by the stronger and highly conditioned champion. Going for broke now, Cassidy tries to force his hands in his pockets while still in the backslide position, knowing the leverage will give him a critical advantage and maybe be enough to secure a win, even this early.

He gets dangerously close, but Fletcher powers out. Cassidy takes the back and forces the champion to the ropes, rolling him up again for another pin attempt, but still, only two.  Orange rebounds off the ropes twice, the second time just... standing at the ropes after hitting them, leaving Fletcher to do a half-assed leapfrog in the ring to nothing in particular. The mind games of the nonchalant challenger are in full effect. Rolling to the floor, OC takes his time collecting himself. He gestures for his pockets which forces Fletcher out to ringside to join him, with OC sliding in the ring to avoid him. Back in the ring, he again gestures for his pockets, but Fletcher is quick to slide in and strike, landing a kick that catches Cassidy flush across the jaw, dropping him to the floor.

Sometimes the best offence is... whatever. AEW

Again, Fletcher follows to the outside, but Cassidy still has life in him, charging back inside only to rebound off the ropes and fly with a dive, crashing into Fletcher and driving him spine first into the barricade. Tossing the champion back inside the ring, Cassidy goes for broke and starts to ascend the ropes from the apron, but this ends up costing him. Charging across the ring, Fletcher lands a huge enziguiri on the back of OC's head, sending him crashing out to the floor. Rolling Cassidy back in the ring, Fletcher starts to keep the pressure on heavy. He hurls him into the corner and stomps his chest over and over and over again. A bodyslam in the middle gives Fletcher his first pin attempt with Cassidy kicking out and rolling out to the floor to escape again.

Fletcher rolls him back inside but Cassidy keeps the momentum on his side, rolling clear across the ring to the other side, leaving Fletcher alone in the ring to bark his displeasure at the referee.  Fletcher follows him out and tosses him back inside, only for Cassidy to roll out again, barely escaping the grip of Fletcher as he rolls away. This time, Fletcher keeps the referee distracted with his displeasure, which allows Don Callis to jump OC on the floor, kicking and clawing at him against the barricade.

Don Callis is a real piece of... whatever. AEW

Back inside the ring now, Fletcher keeps the pressure on. A vicious bodyslam keeps Cassidy down as he jawjacks with the crowd. Dismissively, he boots Cassidy in the head over and over, once again cutting off his attempts at putting his hands in his pockets. But the living embodiment of sloth refuses to give in, shaking the ropes to show he still has signs of life. Giving Cassidy what he wants, Fletcher stuffs his hands in his pockets for him before stomping his chest in disgust. With his arms trapped, Fletcher pulls Cassidy to his shoulders and lines him up for the turnbuckle, set to lawn dart him through the corner pad. He charges, but Cassidy shifts his position mid-way through, rolling through with an arm drag to Fletcher, sending him spine first into the corner!

Nipping up with his hands in his pockets, Cassidy feels the fire from the crowd as Fletcher stirs and rolls to his hands and knees. From slow, lethargic boots to quick, snappy kicks, Cassidy fires up against Fletcher, his rage boiling over with each strike. He takes off from the ropes and tries for a big penalty kick, but Fletcher catches the booty and stops him dead. He triers for a lariat but Cassidy ducks the shot, charging for the corner and flipping over the top rope. From one corner to another, Cassidy rebounds Fletcher's head off the top turnbuckle pad, trying for a third bounce but Fletcher stops him in the middle of the apron. Ducking a shot, Cassidy is able to turn the tide and catch Fletch with a big tornado DDT!

Spiked with a big... whatever. AEW

Back to the apron and up to the top, Cassidy flies with a crossbody, only to get caught by Fletcher and turned around into a big Michinoku driver and a pin attempt, but it's only two! A brainbuster is attempted by Fletcher in the middle, but Cassidy flips through and lands the Stun Dog Millionaire on him, dazing Fletcher for but a moment. He takes off and rebounds against the ropes, twisting around the torso of Fletcher for a DDT but gets halted midway through the move. Cassidy nearly lands another Stun Dog, but Fletcher keeps manipulating his smaller opponent until he gets him in position for a halfd and half suplex, drilling Cassidy on the back of his neck.

Exchanging thrust kicks in the middle of the ring, Fletcher gets the better of Cassidy and tries for a powerbomb in the middle, but Cassidy again is able to shift his body, spiking Fletcher with another DDT! Rebounding off the ropes, Cassidy twists around the torso of Fletcher to land another DDT, pinning in the centre but the TNT Champion escapes. In the corner now, Cassidy lines Fletcher up for the Orange Punch, but Fletcher catches the strike before it's able to land. He twists Cassidy around for a powerbomb attempt, but Cassidy starts to stand out of it, looking to crush Fletcher with Beach Break! Back and forth they trade attempts, with Cassidy flipping out of a powerbomb attempt before going back to Fletcher and flipping him around in the wheelbarrow position, tying up his legs for a close pin attempt.

Rolling out, Fletcher is able to, somehow, pull Cassidy up and adjust his grip in such a way that he's able to spike him with a leaping spinning tombstone! He covers, but Cassidy escapes!

How did he just?! Whatever... AEW

With Cassidy and Fletcher vertical in opposite corners, Fletcher lines his adversary up for his vicious corner kick, landing it before going for a brainb- no! Small package! Cassidy ties up Fletcher in a small package for the thr- no! Kick out! Thrust kicks back and forth again with Cassidy getting the better of this exchange, allowing him to ascend to the middle rope again and again, Fletcher snipes him with an enziguiri to the back of the skull. Climbing to the middle to join him, Fletcher looks for a top rope brainbuster, but Cassidy fights out! A headbutt knocks Fletcher to the ring as, hang on, Hologram?!

With Don Callis on the apron to distract Cassidy, Hologram marches to the ring to help his Conglomeration mate out! Sure, he's in a big black robe and wearing red tights, but that's Hologram! Right?! He fends off Don Callis on the apron to even the odds for his fri- oh god dammit. He knocks Cassidy's foot off the top and crotches him on the turnbuckle, allowing Fletcher to land his signature, devastating, top rope brainbuster. Turns out, it's El Clon, the literal evil version of Hologram, and the newest member of the Don Callis Family. Fletcher pins off the brainbuster and wins, retaining his TNT Championship.

Hologram! You son of a... whatever. AEW

A very fun TV match and a more than serviceable singles return for the great Orange Cassidy. Sure, he didn't win, but did you really expect Fletcher's reign to end this early? I don't see him losing this gold for a long time, hopefully. This was a real greatest hits for Cassidy, getting the crowd reacquainted to his antics and skill set in the ring and reminding us that he's a top-of-the-card performer. Someone as dominant and "take no prisoners" as Fletcher pairs really well against someone as dismissive and, honestly, rage provoking as Cassidy. Can you imagine giving a guy your best shots and all he cares about doing is putting his hands in his pockets? That's a level above most, honestly. You need to come to a match ready to do your absolute best to come close to putting Cassidy away.

Another week down, another recent match reviewed. I can't make any promises, but I do want to get back to reviewing the classics again. Hopefully doing two matches like I was in the groove of for a while but, honestly, I feel like things are just going to keep getting busier at home here. Call it a woman's intuition. But, I won't let the hectic life I lead distract me from all of you! I've committed to this blog and I will stay committed, dammit!

So, until next week, hopefully with a review of a match older than I am, take it easy, be well, and love one another.
